Congressman Pete Hoekstra from Michigan has become a meme for what he twittered on June 17th.

Definition of Meme: (from Wikipedia)
The term “Internet meme” refers to a catchphrase or concept that spreads rapidly from person to person via the internet, largely through email, blogs, social networking sites, and instant messaging. The term derives from the original concept of memes, although it has come to refer to a much broader category of cultural information. Examples include Rickrolling, lolcats, “Leave Britney Alone”, Keyboard Cat, Bacon and “All your base are belong to us“. Web sites such as Twitter, 4chan, Digg, Youtube, and Encyclopedia Dramatica have become major hubs in spreading Internet memes.
To Hoekstra is to whine using grandiose exaggerations and comparisons.
It all started with a simple, foolish tweet. On June 17th, GOP Congressman Pete Hoekstra compared the life and death struggle of Iranians trying to get their message out via Twitter to the Republican Party’s tussle with Democrats. The Twitterati began satirizing Hoekstra’s tweet .
And that’s how the Hoekstra meme was born.
